Project Overview
Local architects and builders are providing in-kind services to lead the design and construction of the tiny homes—allowing for a variety of compact design and construction methods to be demonstrated. Each of the 22 homes are designed to meet the building codes definition of a “permanent dwelling”— including sleeping and living areas, a kitchenette, and bathroom—all in 160 — 288 square feet. The individual dwellings will be supported by common facilities that include a community gathering area, kitchen, laundry, restroom, tool storage, and office.
Residents of EVE will be members of a housing cooperative and will have a share in the village — enabling them to create a modest asset that can be cashed out if and when they choose to move-out. The monthly cost to live at EVE will be $250 – $350 per month, and will cover the share payment, utility expenses, maintenance, and all other operating costs.
A community agreement outlines a basic code of conduct that all residents must agree to abide by, and requires that each resident participate in helping to manage the village.
Project Impact
A tiny house community where people with very low incomes will have the security and benefit of a permanent home!
