Welcome to ROTARY on YOUR TIME!

The Four-Way Test
The Four-Way Test is a nonpartisan and nonsectarian ethical guide for Rotarians to use for their personal and professional relationships.
The test has been translated into more than 100 languages, and Rotarians recite it at club meetings:
Of the things we think, say or do

  1. Is it the TRUTH?
  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

10 ideas to maximize engagement during membership month

By Lee Ann Searight, Membership Resources Specialist

In August, we celebrate our members during Membership Month and recognize their contributions while engaging with prospective members. Here are 10 ideas we hope will inspire an exciting August for you and your club:

  1. Print “What is Rotary?” business cards for each member of your club and have a contest to see who can hand out the most in six months.
  2. Share the “Proud Member” graphics (Available for members of Rotary and Rotaract clubs!), then choose a day in August to post it on your social media channels. Remember to include information about how people can connect with your club, attend a meeting, or take part in a service project.
  3. Review and update your club information on My Rotary and consider using the optional “Notes” field to include relevant information about accessibility, costs, dress code, or club culture so prospective members can find you easily and know what to expect!
  4. Set aside a meeting in August to host a Thank-a-thon. Write short notes to new members, donors, businesses in your community, alumni, and anyone who has partnered with your club in the last year. It’s a great way to appreciate these supporters and strengthen bonds.
  5. Choose one meeting for your club members to make a list of people they’d like to invite to an upcoming service activity, meeting, or special event where prospective members can meet current members to learn about your club and how to get involved.
  6. Remind members about all the ways they can make connections, participate in meaningful service, become a leader, expand their perspective, and design their own Rotary experience beyond the club. Consider sharing the “Designing Your Rotary Experience” resource.
  7. Recognize Rotary and Rotaract club members for Rotary awards. Learn the different nomination deadlines and requirements for each award, such as the Sylvia Whitlock Leadership Award, which honors one member annually who is actively working to advance women in Rotary.
  8. Feature members on your club’s social media channels throughout August. Select an engaging photo along with a story about why they joined, why they stay, and how they find meaning within the club and beyond. Learn more tips on how to best use your social media channels on the Brand Center.
  9. Make meetings memorable! Watch a speech from the Rotary International Convention. Or start a meeting with a short “Personal Perspective” from a current member.
  10. Consider how to reinvigorate your club experience in a way that prioritizes the needs of clubs members, increasing engagement and overall satisfaction.

How do you celebrate during membership month? Leave your comments here or share your ideas on the Discover Rotary Facebook page.

Foundation / Giving

THE ROTARY FOUNDATION-POLIO

The Rotary Foundation transforms your gifts into projects that change lives both close to home and around the world. As the charitable arm of Rotary, we tap into a global network of Rotarians who invest their time, money, and expertise into our priorities, such as eradicating polio and promoting peace. Foundation grants empower Rotarians to approach challenges such as poverty, illiteracy, and malnutrition with sustainable solutions that leave a lasting impact.

Strong financial oversight, a stellar charity rating, and a unique funding model mean that we make the very most of your contribution. Give and become a part of Rotary’s life-changing work!

As we begin our new Rotary year, let's make a thoughtful decision to make a donation to the Rotary Foundation Annual Fund!

Our Zone(27) and District(5110) was among the leaders in the entire Rotary world for giving to the Rotary Foundation! Thanks to everyone who has generously given to TRF! It is TRF that provides matching funds to club local and global projects throughout the world, magnifying the money we raise as clubs for these worthwhile and potentially life-saving projects!

One area where we can improve our giving as clubs and as a district is to have more of our members donate to TRF. When every member of a club gives ($25 minimum) to TRF, it becomes an Every Rotarian Every Year (EREY) club...a very prestigious award! And when every club in the district is an EREY club, then the district becomes an EREY district!

So let's start the year out RIGHT and help your club become EREY! The best way to do this is through My Rotary:
1. Login to My Rotary
2. Click My Account
3. Click My Donations
4. Scroll down to Active Recurring Donations and Add a Recurring Donation

Although I recommend a recurring donation of $10 per month to the Annual Fund-Share, I know that some members may not feel they can afford this right now, but almost everyone can afford a $25 per year donation. So make the donation you feel comfortable with ($25/yr minimum) to help make your club and our District  EREY! If you have members who don't like giving funds online, encourage them to write a check to The Rotry Foundation (put Annual Fund on the memo line), and have their TRF Chair send it in for them!

Once a year, go into My Rotary and edit your recurring donations and thoughtfully make an increase in your giving.  Remember TRF is among the highest rated charities in the world, meaning more of your donation goes to helping your communities and the world than almost every other charity!

Thanks for all you do for Rotary and The Rotary Foundation.
