The Ring of Fire Solar Eclipse on the morning of October 14.

An exciting celestial event you won't want to miss is coming up this October. A Ring of Fire solar eclipse, also known as an annular (meaning ring-shaped) solar eclipse, will be visible in eight U.S. states and parts of Central and South America on the morning of October 14. Even those not in the states where the Ring of Fire Eclipse will be visible will experience a more common partial solar eclipse.
Viewers of the Ring of Fire Eclipse can expect to see a ring of light (as the name suggests), produced by the sun, around the moon. This phenomenon occurs when the moon is positioned directly in front of the sun, as it is during a total solar eclipse. Though because the moon will be at its farthest point from Earth in its orbital cycle, it appears smaller and therefore it will not totally eclipse the sun.
