Why I joined Rotary and why I stay

I first learned about Rotary through a friend who invited me to a club meeting. I went out of curiosity, unsure of what to expect. What I found was more than a social gathering – it was a room full of passionate people dedicated to service, community, and integrity.
At that time, I was already active in volunteering, but something about the structure and spirit of Rotary spoke to me. The idea that we could create meaningful change both locally and globally – with projects in education, health, and peace – made me feel like I was stepping into something much bigger than myself.
What made me stay? The Four-Way Test. It wasn’t just words on a banner. I saw it in action – in the way decisions were made, in the respect members showed one another, and in the impact of every project we touched. From organizing free medical camps to supporting underprivileged children with school supplies, I saw the joy of service light up not just faces in the community, but also in my fellow Rotarians.
Rotary has also helped me grow personally. I’ve gained leadership skills, formed friendships that cross all boundaries, and found a deeper purpose. It’s not just about giving back – it’s about growing forward.
If you’re looking to make a difference in the world while being part of a global family, I encourage you to visit a Rotary club.
Listen. Connect. Serve.
You might just find your place here.
