New District 5110 Assistant Governors Appointments
By DGE Gerry Kosanovic
A key leadership position in Rotary is the Assistant Governor. The 15 District 5110 Assistant Governors serve as a valuable resource, advisor, and communicator to Rotary clubs, assisting club presidents and members’ efforts in achieving club goals while fostering a sense of camaraderie, inspiration, enthusiasm, and mutual support.
The position is a major link between the District Governor and Rotary clubs in each Assistant Governor area. Each Assistant Governor supports and works with four or five Rotary clubs in their respective area. I am therefore honored to introduce four new District 5110 Assistant Governors:
- Juli Di Chiro -- Greater Jackson County Area (replacing Pamela Norton)
- Jane Falls – Greater South Willamette Area (replacing Aimee Walsh) Please welcome Jane as our new eClub AG.
- W. John Moore – Northern Coast Area (replacing Crystal Farnsworth)
- Regan Tucker – Umpqua Area (replacing Jerry Cochran)
On behalf of the DG Leadership team, I want to express our appreciation to all of the 5110 Assistant Governors for stepping up to the plate to serve clubs and members. I also extend our gratitude to Aimee Walsh, Pamela Norton, Crystal Farnsworth, and Jerry Cochran for their years of AG service. Click here for the entire story.
March 18th is Global Recycling Day
Its mission is twofold:
1. To tell world leaders that recycling is simply too important not to be a global issue, and that a
common, joined up approach to recycling is urgently needed.
2. To ask people across the planet to think resource, not waste, when it comes to the goods
around us – until this happens, we simply won’t award recycled goods the true value and
repurpose they deserve.( https://www.globalrecyclingday.com/about/ )
March 22nd is WORLD WATER DAY
World Water Day focuses on water’s importance
The COVID-19 pandemic has made it clearer than ever that hand washing — which requires a safe water source — is essential to our health. Yet more than 2 billion people worldwide don’t have access to clean water. Since 2014, The Rotary Foundation has invested more than $51 million in global grants to enable clubs to carry out projects that help people around the world with clean water, sanitation, and hygiene. For World Water Day on 22 March, learn how you can get involved in a water project and give to support our work in this area through our Donate page. Go to the Areas of Focus tab and choose Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene
March is Clean Water & Sanitation Month
Clean water, sanitation, and hygiene education are basic necessities for a healthy environment and a productive life.
When people have access to clean water and sanitation, waterborne diseases decrease, children stay healthier and attend school more regularly, and mothers can spend less time carrying water and more time helping their families.
How Rotary makes help happen
Through water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) programs, Rotary’s people of action mobilize resources, form partnerships, and invest in infrastructure and training that yield long-term change.
