gavelAt the July 15 Board of Directors meeting it was agreed that past presidents would fill the vacated President’s position.

October, November, and December – Past President - Bob Gibson

January, February, and March – Past President - Jackie Oakley

April, May and June – President-Elect DeVere Wolsey

Welcome to this week’s meeting of the eClub of the State of Jefferson. I am Bob Gibson. As you are aware, Past President Jean, Past President Jackie, President Elect DeVere, and myself are sharing the duties this year. While not routine, it is a great example of how Rotary can adapt to changes and challenges.

I thought it would be appropriate to introduce myself. Except for a two-year absence, I have been a Rotarian since 1979. I was a member of the Rotary Club of Rawlins, Wyoming. I served on the Board and as President. I joined the Rotary Club of Lincoln City, Oregon in 1988. Again, I served on the Board and as President. I served as a District Governor Area Representative and was in the first class of Assistant District Governors. Along with many of you, I have been in Rotary long enough to see many changes.

I understand the challenge of watching things evolve. I realize that change is necessary if we are going to stay relevant. Those of us who supported strict attendance policies and used classification as criteria for membership invitations must take a breath and understand what is happening. Your Board is currently working on amendments to our Club Constitution and By-Laws. When approved by the Board, these changes will be presented to you for ratification. It is so important that we make these decisions in a thoughtful manner. They provide the framework for our good work. Rotary remains the premiere service organization. We can be proud of our history and we can be encouraged with our future.

I will use this platform, over the next three months, to communicate critical calls for decisions and action for our Club. It is an honor to be in this position. If you have any questions or comments, I am available. My e-mail address is: bob@bluewaterphoto.net.

Enjoy the meeting.
