Welcome to this week’s meeting of the eClub of the State of Jefferson. I am Bob Gibson.

Again, this is Foundation Month. Please consider being a Sustaining Member by supporting The Rotary Foundation with a $100 contribution each year. Our contributions put us shoulder to shoulder with those volunteers in the field providing the hands-on work. I am proud of The Rotary Foundation, and proud to be a Rotarian.

As you are aware, Past President Jean, Past President Jackie, President Elect DeVere, and I are sharing the duties this year. While not routine, it is a great example of how Rotary can adapt to changes and challenges.

If you have any questions or comments, I am available. My e-mail address is: bob@bluewaterphoto.net.

Enjoy the meeting.

At the July 15 Board of Directors meeting it was agreed that past presidents would fill the vacated President’s position.

October, November, and December – Past President - Bob Gibson

January, February, and March – Past President - Jackie Oakley

April, May and June – President-Elect DeVere Wolsey

Voices of Rotary -- Interact Virtual Tutoring Program Podcast

By Daniel Smith

Picture this; a student is trying to study at the kitchen table at home – Mom’s making dinner, rattling pots and pans, and baby brother is screaming because his diaper needs changed. Mayhem. Not a good environment for learning. Some students were barely scraping by. In comes the tutor, who not only saves the day academically, but also forms a friendship and bond with the student.

This is the story of how one District 5110 Interact club took the challenges of the pandemic and created a program that is being duplicated in the U.S. and Canada. Christine Waugh, Past President of the Eugene Southtowne Rotary Club, meets with the tutors, students and parents to find out how they built such a successful program. The great thing about Voices of Rotary storytelling is you don’t need anything special. No secret handshake, high tech devices or private registration. Click on the link, put your feet up, close your eyes and listen at https://voicesofrotary.org/.

But if you want to take the story with you and listen anywhere, that’s where podcasting comes in. We are adding new channels everyday so let us know your favorite and we will add it. Contact us at team@voicesofrotary.org

Almeda Fire - Rising From the Ashes

By Dan Smith

almedaSeptember 8, 2020, was a challenging time for Southern Oregon. Like every place else, we were in the middle of a pandemic and and on top of that, a drought. That Tuesday after Labor Day, the first day of school for many of the school districts in Southern Oregon.

It all began with record winds whipping down the Valley from south to north. Join Michelle Corradetti and Alan Harper as they document the "Almeda Fire - Rising From the Ashes."

RI 11 NovemberNovember is Rotary Foundation Month

The Rotary Foundation transforms your gifts into service projects that change lives both close to home and around the world.

Since it was founded more than 100 years ago, the Foundation has spent more than $4 billion on life-changing, sustainable projects.

With your help, we can make lives better in your community and around the world.

Our mission

The Rotary Foundation helps Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace by improving health, providing quality education, improving the environment, and alleviating poverty.

What impact can one donation have?

  • For as little as 60 cents, a child can be protected from polio.
  • $50 can provide clean water to help fight waterborne illness.
  • $500 can launch an antibullying campaign and create a safe environment for children.

CELEBRATE FOUNDATION MONTH WITH A GIFT

giving tuesdayIn November, Rotary members celebrate The Rotary Foundation. It’s a great time to share with your members how the Foundation transforms their gifts into service projects that change lives both close to home and around the world. Here are three more ways you can support the Foundation:

  1. Make a gift to our Annual Fund-SHARE on Giving Tuesday, 30 November. Last year, Rotary members contributed more than $800,000 for the occasion. Share our video message.
  2. Give the gift of Rotary to make an impact in communities around the world. Your gift helps create lasting change, from supplying filters that purify drinking water to empowering local entrepreneurs through business training.
  3. Start a fundraiser using our peer-to-peer fundraising tool, Raise for Rotary. You can create online fundraising pages to support the Foundation that are easy to share with family and friends through social media and email.
