District Governor Cindi O’Neil has agreed to take time out of her busy schedule to help us define our vision. This is a great honor and we hope you will join us.
If you have an hour or so on a Saturday morning, before you head out for the day, that would be great. The Visioning is scheduled for Saturday, June 19 at 8:30am. We will email you the link so you can add it to your calendar.
This is probably one of the more important meetings you will have all year. We are at a crossroad and need you to tell us what you want us to do for you, for the club, and for Rotary.
Hope to see you there.

The COVID-19 situation on the Navajo Nation continues to show improvement. Navajo Nation officials cited a declining number of new COVID- 19 cases and deaths related to COVID-19 have significantly declined. However, the Navajo Nation recently documented cases of COVID-19 UK variant and California variant within the Nation. According to the CDC, these variants tend to spread more easily and quickly.
‘We have to keep pushing back on COVID19 and the variants by getting vaccinated, wearing masks, social distancing, washing your hands often, avoiding large in-person gatherings, and limiting travel,” said Navajo Nation President Jonathon Nez.
In a separate statement, President Nez reported that the Navajo Nation now has over 100,000 individuals who are fully vaccinated for COVID-19. The Navajo Area Indian Health Service reported that 247,165 total vaccine doses have been received, 225,819 administered, which represents over 91%. Over 100,000 individuals have been fully vaccinated.
According to President Nez, “This is a great achievement for the Navajo people and our health care workers. Well over half of the adult population on the Navajo Nation is fully vaccinated. If you consider only the individuals who live on the Navajo Nation and receive their health care service from the Navajo Area Indian Health Service, that percentage increases to over 70-paercent. Our next goal is to reach 75-percent vaccination rate before we consider reopening our Nation to visitors.”
You can follow developments on the Navajo Nation website at: https://www.navajo-nsn.gov
As it stands now, with the Nation still closed to outsiders and no specific date for reopening determined, a Spring installation will not be possible.. I will keep you updated and look forward to getting together with you when it is safe to do so for all concerned.
In the meantime, please stay safe.
I have created a “newsletter” to keep all interested persons informed and involved. NEW AND IMPROVED: The D5110 Rotary Business Network
By Daniel Smith
This week DG Cindi O’Neil is announcing the relaunch of a much improved Rotary District 5110 Business Network (RBN). Click here to see the new look www.rotarybusinessnetwork.org.
“Rotary Business Network (RBN) is now a business communication tool like no other,” said DG Cindi O’Neil. The revised RBN starts with your listing. It includes more images, a slide show, a link to your website and social network. Every D5110 Rotarian with a business or profession is entitled to a listing in the Rotary Business Network directory. Reach out for support at team@rotarybusinessnetwork.org if you have questions.
Among the new features are that businesses can add promotions and events. As a member of the network, businesses can add special events, sales, discounts, and club promotions then have them shared every two weeks in the RBN newsletter Here’s an example of how Asst. Governor Gwen DeBernardi is using RBN’s improved web site to promote her business, Promotional Products Northwest: https://rotarybusinessnetwork.org/events/679/#post_content
Click here to catch all the new and improved RBN details at the 5110 website. After all, wouldn’t you rather do business with a Rotarian?
Visit the Rotary Business Directory if you have questions.

Some numbers on the impact of membership loss and Rotary giving in this district. These data and statistics are drawn from RI reports.
In 2009-10 this district had 4071 members and they gave $454,105 to the Annual Fund for a per capita of $112 per member.
In 2019-20 this district had 3278 members and they gave $488,262 to the Annual Fund for a per capita of $149 per member (yahoo!)
In 2020-21 this district has 3165 members and so far they have given $372,010 to the Annual Fund for a per capita of $117 per member
We are down 793 members over that period of time. I averaged the $149 per member with the $112 per member to get $130 per member. This $130 multiplied by our membership loss is $103,288, just a little less than we are down this year over last. We are currently down $116,251.
This loss in membership and subsequent giving loss is a big reason there had to be changes at the Rotary Foundation.
I want to thank all Rotarians who have given generously to the Rotary Foundation and encourage those who have yet to give to be generous as it impacts all the work we do in our communities and around the world. Let's match our 2019 per member donations of $149.
Lastly, let's get out and recruit more members and make sure we take care of the members we have!
PS - just for kicks here are some more data. In the past decade North America is down over 45,000 members. If you multiply that by the average donation, $104.51 (I called Rotary to get that number) the loss in giving is about $4.7M.
Thank you for all you do,
Tim Mobley, District Rotary Foundation Committee Chair
